Poquoson Museum

The Poquoson Museum will be a learning museum and will provide local schools with specialized SOL-based interactive programs. The hands-on learning approach, based on the Colonial Williamsburg model, has proven to be the finest method to reinforce historical themes outside the classroom setting. The Poquoson Museum will develop costumed interpretative programs designed to help fulfill Virginia SOL-requirements. The museum will also develop a heritage learning series presenting special events, seminars and workshops designed to provide enjoyable family learning experiences. Whether a boat model building workshop or a summer boat building camp, these programs will broaden interest in the museum's mission to preserve and promote Poquoson's past.
